This first listing is for the rare, large version of the 1944 World War II poster, "Award For Careless Talk", by noted artist Steven Dohanos. Measurements are approximately 28.5" x 40". Condition is Excellent+, with only light evidence of the original fold lines. Colors are very vibrant, with no evidence of fading.
I will be listing 178 original World War II posters. 50 are the rare, larger-sized posters, measuring approximately 28.5"x40". The remaining 128 posters are of various sizes but most are the typical 20"x28" size. All have the appropriate Governmental department markings. Many are from noted artists, including: Norman Rockwell, NC Wyeth, John Falter, Otto Fischer, David Stone Martin, Howard Scott and Jon Whitcomb, to name a few.
All of the larger posters and many of the smaller ones, do show the original fold lines. Every original, large poster does! The U.S. Gov't folded each poster to approximately 7"x10" for distribution. Some are in near perfect condition but most do show some minor edge wear. If you were to have any of these linen-mounted for archiving, most minor imperfections would be unnoticeable, such as small edge tears and the original fold lines tend to smooth out when mounted. Minor printing imperfections are considered normal, and may include subtle roller marks, hickies and light ink offsetting. A few of the posters have some discoloring from sun light, a result of originally being displayed in a window. I have tried to identify and describe any noticeable wear, but there is the possibility that I overlooked something minor. I believe that I have been more subjective in my descriptions of the wear to each poster, than most sellers, but I want my buyer to be completely satisfied with their purchase!
