Thompson, R. Crumb, Jerry Garcia, John Lennon, Timothy Leary, and Carlos Castaneda.

It’a druggy book with an anti-drug message. A miraculously microscopic look at the downside of the counterculture which went on to become, in many negative ways, the culture. Almost like being there - too much  for comfort, maybe. Says a lot, as only Ace can say it.

Ace Backwords has been a fixture of Berkeley’s Telegraph Avenue street scene since pretty much forever. For many years he published Twisted Image, one of the most widely-circulated publications of the zine era. Cartoonist, musician, and writer, his mission has been to collect and present the art and music of street people in calendars and compilation CDs. His previous books are Twisted Image and Surviving on the Streets.
