Adjustable Throwing Axe w/ Sharp Back Spike and Sheath Knife and Axe Throwing is a sport enjoyed the world over. Commonly, a throwing axe is made with a wooden handle that needs to be replaced often. We are offering here an alternative to having to replacing handles all the time. This is an axe created specifically for the art of Axe throwing with a solid metal handle. There is historical precedent for all-steel throwing axes. In the Middle Ages they were called hurlbats, and often had spikes at both ends of the handle as well as the edge and back spike.
This throwing axe is really nice in that it can be modified somewhat for the preferences of the thrower. It comes with a small flat head screw driver that allows the thrower to unscrew the handle and change the sharpened spike tail piece of the axe. This allows it to be used either as a traditional throwing axe or with the tail spike swiveled out, changing the weight and feel of the axe and making the look more similar to the traditional hurlbat design. The tail spike is not symetrical and therefore can be placed in either of two directions. Both tail spike and back spike on the axe head are sharp. Length of the blade on the axe head measure 3 1/2", from blade to head's back spike 6 5/8". Height without tail spike is 11 1/2", with tail spike is 14 3/8". It is made of 440 stainless steel with a black protective coating.
This axe comes with a black nylon carry sheath with belt loop. Top and side closure is velcro. A snap closes the bottom edge near the blade for ease of retrieval of axe. Rivets give additional strength to the seaming on the sheath. The nylon is lined with soft flexible plastic for additional strength.
This is new with no problem.
