Chirita Tamiana in Bloom with some Seed Pods!

Above is a picture of the mother plant, not the plant offered in this auction!!

If you show plants, then you will really enjoy my plants... most are raised for symmetry and are easy to grow for the AV shows.  Maybe one will win Best In Show!!

The plant in the photo below is the actual plant or one that is very similar that you are bidding on.  It is ready to be transplanted!

Many of my plants have been potted up for quite awhile and will need to be potted down into larger pots.  The soil is a soil-less medium and is not heavy, as many of the mediums you will receive.  The plants can be wicked if you do not want to repot immediately.  But remember these plants need to be repotted as soon as possible.

Chirita is an old world genus, with about 150 species ranging from Sri Lanka and India through the Himalayas into China and Southeast Asia down the Malay Peninsula, with a very few species reaching the islands of Sumatra, Java, and Borneo. A number of the species are grown for their unusual and very attractive foliage, with intricate silver designs on large green leaves. Others are grown for their unusual lavender, yellow or white flowers, usually produced in clusters on long or short stalks.  http://www.gesneriads.ca/genchiri.htm

Some members of the genus seem to require relatively warm temperatures, and moderate humidity. They do well in standard "African violet" soil mixes, although some growers modify these through the addition of substances like perlite or vermiculite.  I do not use vermiculite in my soil.

All my chiritas are treated the same as my violets, same temps, same fertilize and same lighting.  I have found most like more light than some of the violets, so I place the plants directly under the center of my fixtures.

They can be propagated from leaf or suckers.

Easy to grow and bloom.  They make spectular show plants, even when they are not blooming!!

These plants are NOT starters, but large plants.  They take up so much more room in the box and I can only pack so many per box.  The plants may be scaled down/leaves removed to fit 4 per box.

The plants are packaged, so they will arrive safely.  If there is severe damage, excluding broken leaves or spilled soil, contact me within 24 hours with a photo of the plants/leaves.  Damaged plants/leaves may be replaced, if available or an agreed substitution between both parties. Replacement shipping is the responsibility of the buyer!

If I feel it is not safe to ship the plants, I will notify you and hold the plants until the weather is within reason to ship.  If you feel it is NOT safe for me to ship during this time, you need to let me know.  Otherwise, I will not be responsible for damage due to shipping and weather.

SHIPPING:  Heat or cool packs are included in the cost of shipping.  Cost of shipping Priority Mail:  $8.50 for the first plant - $1.00  for each additional plant up to 8 plants per box for small to medium plants.  Additional box will be needed if purchasing more than 8 plants and charge per box will be $8.50 for first plant.. additional plants $1.00 each.

If it is too cold or hot here or where you live to ship, I will hold off until the temperatures safe for shipping.

The packaged will be insulated for safer travel with a heat or cool pack.  I will not be responsible for weather relative damage.  If it is too cold or hot in your area to ship plants, please do not bid.

Please do not pay, until you have completed all your bidding!!!  Otherwise, I will have to ship separately and it will cost you more!  I will send you an invoice with the total to be paid at the end of the auctions showing combined shipping cost.

You will be emailed when your plants are shipped with the tracking number.  I usually ship on Mondays, Tuesdays and sometimes on Wednesday and Saturdays.

I do not offer insurance, as the US Postal Service does not insure plants.
