Up for auction is a custom built air compressor that mounts on the back of a Wheel Horse Tractor. I built this particular unit to mount on the back of a 1968 Charger 12 that I own. The compressor is a Craftsman 100 psi air compressor, and I installed new reed valves when I built the unit. To run the compressor from the tractor, you must also have the pulley drive kit that runs a rear tiller. The way this works is you unhook the tiller, and the compressor unit hooks right up to the tractor the same way as the tiller does. It will require a slightly different length rear drive V-belt then the tiller, but this is no problem. The compressor works great, will pump up to about 90 psi +/- before the pop-off safety valve kicks in. From that point, the pressure regulates at about 60 psi. There is also a drain port built in for water. The pressure gauge works and is off of an old World War II army air field portable compressor (the old compressors that had a tank frame and ran a Briggs & Stratton Model N military engine). The tank has a shutoff valve at the top. The air hose has quick disconnects and is approx. 20 ft long or so.
Just let it run and air up whatever you need. Ofcoarse if you want more air, speed up the engine. I use to take this unit to threshing bees and antique tractor shows and was great for airing up tractor tires before parades.
The first pictures show the compressor when I first built it and mounted it on my tractor. The last four pictures show the compressor itself as it is today. I haven't used it for little over a year as I've been running the tiller lately on the tractor. Thus I've decided to let the compressor go. Local pickup only. Again, the auction is for the complete compressor as you see it on the picnic table. The tractor is not for sale, nor is any of the tiller pulley drive components that are required to run the compressor. Any questions, let me know. Location is Bonner Springs, Kansas.
