This windscreen is also a pot stand and a fuel & heat optimizer (saves fuel, read weight). Anybody who has backpacked knows that evrything you carry must be lightweight and must do dual duty when possible. Not only is this windscreen light but it also solves the problem of a pot stand for those can stoves that require one. And because of it's unique design will also save on fuel by wrapping the heat from your stove up the sides of the pot you are cooknig with. This allows maximum heat transfer from the heat created by your stove rather than letting it blow away by a windscreen that is too short or too far away from the pot. This will work with any pot from 5 to 6 inches in diameter! Most solo 1 litre pots are 5.5 inches, even lids and pans 5 to 6 inches in diameter will work in this windscreen.

I used this windscreen & pot stand setup during my thru-hike of the Appalachian Trail in 2004, it took me all the way to Katahdin. Everynight people were fascinated at how simple and ingenious this windscreen is. Solves the problem of no pot stand and makes the most out of evry ounce of fuel by not letting any heat get away, which also decreases water boil times. I could consistantly have a pot of water boiling before anybody else because of the ease of setup and the way it captures the heat to shorten cooking times. The only stoves that are faster including the setup time are your cannister stoves (pocket rocket) but as you already know, fuel cannisters aren't always available and alcohol is.
