Bob E. is brillant in this talk; and very funny!! He has 17 Years of Sobriety at the time he shared this message; with a Sobriety Date of August 28, 1962
Talks about his Head like it was a separate entity placed on his body. Some of his observations about himself are below:
"Nothing causes me more pain than my own head . . . Recovery is where I found the most pain"
"90% of the things we fear, never come to pass"
"Sometime using profanity, he says: Look past what I am saying and
look to see who I am"
Confesses, what got him into AA was when he caught a glimpse of himself, his reflection in a glass window, at the age of 26 . . . wetting his pants, malnourished, sleeping on rooftops . . . . and he saw that he was dying . . . . surrendered to the program.
The Vulture, his mind, waits on the bed post until he wakes up. It is burdened with Negativity and is never happy or content. Identifies himself as a Chronic Malcontent.
He believes that his head does "not want to hear "that I need you". "My mind will try to separate me from you. . . . to keep you from helping me"
Tells two great stories which relate to "getting rid of all of our old ideas, good and bad" and one which resonates his belief that God uses People to give us what we need.
Great, great talk; a must for every AA's Library of Speakers!!
