You are bidding on a very nice Altec 1567a microphone pre amp/mixer. This unit is all vacuum tube. It is a 5 channel microphone/line mixer with hi and lo eq. This unit is set up with channels 1 and 2 containing 1 each Peerless 4722 (green) microphone input transformers. Channels 3 and 4 have the socket 'jumped' to allow high impedance microphones to be put directly on the input tube. Input 5 is always a line input. These 5 inputs are mixed via the volume pots to one balanced line output using the peerless 15095 (red) transformer.
The front panel is in 'good' condition, especially considering that this is ca 1966 - a few light scratches here and there, some markings on the scribble strup above the 5 input knobs and 1 output knob. The meter is present and fully lit. The vu range works as described - this allows you to hit the inputs very hard, and turn down the sensitivity of the meter to prevent damaging or even bending the needle! The bass and treble work globally on all inputs. This unit seems to be all original and works in all respects. Due to the nature of vintage equipment, there is no guarantee, but the unit is guaranteed the be not d.o.a.
The tube compliment is (2) 12ax7's - used one half for each of the 4 microphone inputs, (1) 12ax7 - used as a single stage booster after the mic preamps are mixed together, prior to the eq section, and (1) 6cg7 - used as the output driver. All tubes are old stock, present, and tested good on my Hickock 6000 tube tester. The 12ax7's all have tube shields while the 6cg7 appears to never have been fitted with one.
The back of the unit is also fitted with Altec's accessory 12863 unit, which converts the normal spade lug hookup into 4 xlr inputs, a 5th line input on 'screw type terminals', as well as the line output and a 2nd high impedance 'recorder out' on 'screw type terminals'. This is way more convenient for hookup. This unit has short (1') mogami cable terminating into 1/4" ts male connectors fitted to the line input and line output (xlr females are present for mic inputs).
The winning bidder will also receive a COPY of the altec 1567a mixer amplifier operating instructions from 1/66. These include features, operation, hookup, impedance settings for the input and output transformers, possible modifications (output attenuator, channel off/on switches), parts list, frequency response plots, and schematic drawing.
The unit will be well packed. USPS PRIORITY flat rate INSURED shipping to continental USA is $43.00, USPS PARCEL POST flat rate INSURED shipping to continental USA is $24.00. We will ship international - buyer will be charged actual shipping amount. Thank You.
