| NATIVE AMERICAN INDIAN POTTERY JEMEZ PUEBLO ART BY AWARD WINNING ARTIST: ALVINA YEPA This elegant hand coiled vase was created by well respected Native American Indian artist, Alvina Yepa. This Jemez Pueblo piece measures approximately 8.25" wide x about 4.5" tall. The lip measures just over 3" diameter and the opening measures 1.5" diameter. The base measures 3.25" diameter. This impressive Jemez Pueblo Native American pottery is intricately etched and has an elegant stone polish and smooth texture. Alvina uses only natural slip and fires her pottery outdoors as is traditional with cedar wood. Alvina is known for her impressive scraffito work. This piece features traditional designs, corn stalk, and feather etchings. Her incise work is done with precision producing uniform images. This artwork does not have any chips or cracks. Alvina is one of the most sought after Native American artists from the Jemez Pueblo today. Alvina has been the recipient of numerous prestigious awards. She has won over fifteen S.W.A.I.A. awards including many first place awards. She has won 1st, 2nd and 3rd place awards at the Eight Northern Indian Pueblo Council, and 1st and 2nd place awards at the Northern Pueblo Annual Artist and Craftsman Show. She won Best of Division at the Heard Museum Guild Indian Market in addition to Honorable Mention. She was a 1st place award recipient at the University of San Diego American Indian Celebration and has won prestigious awards at the Prescott Indian Art Market. Alvina most recently received Honorable Mention at the 2009 New Mexico State Fair. Her work is exhibited by the Booth Western Art Museum, Bruce Kapson Gallery, and Andrea Fisher Gallery. Alvina was bron into the Sun Clan of the Jemez Pueblo of New Mexico in 1954. She is the daughter of Felipita and Nick Yepa and the grandaughter of Frank and Louisa Fragua Toledo, and Cristino and Juanita Fragua. She is the sister of Priscilla, Albert, Cristino, Jose, Lawrence, Salvadore, and Wallace Yepa. Alvina's work continues to increase in collector's value. FREE SHIPPING IS AVAILABLE!
