Amateur Film: West 1940 A pretty spectacular trip to the Grand Canyon. While I sometimes bore out from Amateur movies getting stuck on one shot, this film was never boring because of the gorgeous kodachrome photography. Quite a fascinating portrait of the park, as some of the safety fences look hopelessly simplistic, and I am very curious whether you could just go out now and sit on a unsettled cliff, jag or rock nowadays, as some of these shots have. Highly reccomended!16.00

A pretty nice looking film which pretty much focuses on South Dakota and Yellowstone National Park, which really isn't my definition of Northwest, but anyways, it is mostly park travel, stopping at Mount Rushmore, which either was ABOUT to be completed or was being cleaned. Given the time period of this film, I would say the former. The film also has some very scary 'on the road' shots with big wide cars travelling on too small mountain roads. I love the smallish tunnels.. heck, I like tunnels in general!14:00

Much of this movie is NM in the 1920s, including very candid shots of a feast day at a pueblo where the women wear tablitas. The other reviewer didn't know what he was looking at! If you go to a feast day now at a pueblo, it wouldn't look all that different in some respects. I'm guessing the date from the cars but I'm no expert. The opening shots look like the Palace of the Governors in Santa Fe, including possibly the inner courtyard. I'd love to know what pueblo that is. Slow views of great adobe buildings. There's also some wonderful hats on the cowboys and Indians. Later shots appear to be Grand Canyon and CA. .14:00
