For your consideration, the most beautiful tin toy airplane ever to come out for auction at Eddie's Toy Store!
This is the massive, superbly detailed, multi-functional, American Airlines Boeing 707 produced by Yonezawa/AHI of Japan, one of the premiere tin toy manufacturers in the world, following WW-II. This vintage, early '60s, battery operated jet airplane is sure to become your all time favorite toy.
Measuring a whooping 22" (55.9c.m.) in length, 21.5" (54.6 c.m.) in wingspan and 6.5" (16.5 c.m.) in height, this beauty is the largest tin airplane we've ever had our hands on. Wow!
As for its condition, we can simply say it's in immaculate condition. There are no visible scratches anywhere, except for a few robbing scratches on the left of the fuselage, right above the word "Airlines". We can tell that this toy has never been played with, and most likely, spent all these years in its box, waiting to go home to you.
The airplane operates with three (x3) D-Size batteries, which will be included with the airplane for your playing pleasure. When you turn on the wing mounted switch, the front passenger door opens to reveal the flight attendant at the door, and the cockpit light comes on, revealing the flight crew and instrument panel. Once passengers are at their seats and can be seen at their windows, the two port-side (left) engines start up, followed by the the remaining two a few seconds later. All engines make a jet sound from the moment they're started and a red light inside the cowling lets you know that the engine is "hot", so whatch out for jet blast! After all engines are operating, the take off roll begins and lasts for about 20 second. The nose gear can be turned left or right, so you can make the airplane go in circles if you like.
The paint and the lithography are in outstanding condition throughout, as can be verified with the pictures. All markings are bright, distinct, sharp and lively. The motor and battery compartment are in pristine condition, without the tiniest hint of rust anywhere. All lights are bright and the plastic components, such as the radio antenna on the tail, are straight and in excellent condition: No cracks, no bending, no scratches.
As if that wasn't enough, this baby comes complete with its tin air-stairs (also in pristine condition), instructions and box. The box measures 23.5" (59.7 c.m.) x 8" 20.3 c.m.) x 7" (17.8 c.m.). As can be seen in the pictures, the box is complete and sturdy, but it has some minor damage; mainly, a few dents at the bottom, as well as what appears to be some kind of liquid stain on the end panels. Still, the pictures on the front and side panels are in superb shape, considering their age.
