HISTORY

This celebration was formed in 1990 with a committee of 12 people and a budget of $15,000 to welcome the troops home from Dessert Storm. This event was supposed to be a one year event, yet here we are, 17 years later, with a 30 member committee and over 200 volunteers.

Additionally, we now have a budget of $115,000 to host the largest, most anticipated celebration in the State of Maine. People come from all over the Northeast and beyond to celebrate the freedom of our country. Winslow now hosts the largest and most successful 4th of July celebration in the State at little to no cost for the participants and observers. During the celebration, this small town of 8,000 grows to 60,000 to enjoy the most patriotic celebration in the Northeast.

DEDICATION

This book is dedicated to all of the men and women who have fought and will fight for the freedom of our country. The sacrifices they have made, as well as the sacrifices their families have made, will always be remembered and appreciated.

We would like to acknowledge and thank all the volunteers and sponsors who have made the Winslow Family 4th of July Celebration such a success for the past 17 years. This celebration has grown every year and has become the most anticipated and Patriotic celebration in the State of Maine.

Winslow and the Central Maine area have become the place to be to celebrate the freedom of our country. We would not have this freedom without our service men and women who have fought and died for us to enjoy these rights. The main objective of this Celebration is KEEPING THE AMERICAN SPIRIT ALIVE!

In addition, we would like to thank everyone who contributed to the cookbook and to Elaine Belcher and Jeannette Bolduc for their efforts in pulling it all together.
