Kosta, the oldest Swedish glass factory, was founded in 1742. During the 1920s through the 1950s, many pieces of original design were made at the factory. Kosta and Boda merged with Afors in 1964 and created the Afors Group in 1971. In 1976, the name Kosta Boda was adopted.
Beautiful ribbed amethyst vase made by Afors in Sweden. Based on the historical info this vase had to be made prior to 1964. It is very elegant, reminding me of some Moser pieces. The top part has dark amethyst lines fused into the lighter amethyst color vase. The lines slowly merge with the basic amythyst color about in the middle of the vase. The base has a polished pontil with a mark: Afors, 2029 Lila. The bottom shows little wear from use ( the picture magnifies it and makes it look worse ). The vase had been used in the past, showing some light water marks but you have to really look for it. There are no scratches or chips on the body. The galery picture shows the true color. The tiny white spots on my pictures are just specs of light. Measurements: 9" to the tallest point, 3" in diametr in the widest point. Sold as is.
