On offer is a lacquer-and-gilt-on-wood depiction of a standing Amida Buddha encased in its original lacquer-on-wood zushi, mid-Edo Period ca. 1750. An original ensemble in unaltered original condition, desirably patinated, showing loss to the tips of the upraised fingers of the figure's right hand, a tiny chip to the thumb of the left hand, loss of two finials on the plinth, loss to one corner of the zushi's right-hand door, and lacquer loss around the lower edge of the zushi's backside. The gilt-copper hinges and closing clasp are intact and fully functional. Although imperfect, the condition is not the least bit problematic, particularly in view of this piece's age.
