Hard to find 1930's print in our fine condition

The Blue Oak

We are pleased to offer this 1930s offset lithograph of the early 20th Century painting by modernist French artist 

Andre Derain

11 x 14 inches or approx 27.5 x 35 cm

This lithograph on dull matte stock was part of a series published in New Jersey in 1937.  The painting  was included in a lithographing project for a subscription art appreciation series supported by such dignitaries as Eleanor Roosevelt and using innovative techniques combining complicated lithography and offset reproduction.  According to the Harvard University Crimson newspaper, the Great Depression project was inexplicably abandoned and its high quality glass plates found in a government warehouse in the mid-1970s. 

As one of the more popular prints in the National Committee for Art Appreciation series, this print may be difficult to find in excellent condition when you want it.  

We acquired this in an original 1937 portfolio. Frame it, collect it or use in your hard copy publication. We do not reproduce prints.   No tears, no chips, no edgwear, no damp line, no significant foxing or spots; gracefully aged, nice for a gift.  Shipped between new cardboard in fresh rigid mailer.

Print is a little bigger than our scanning bed.
