Ansonia Art Nouveau Iron Case Kitchen Clock with MOP Inlay
Hard to find Art Nouveau inlaid iron case clock by Ansonia! This is an 8-day clock. I'd guess it to be made around 1900, possibly 1890 and no later than 1914. The case is typical of the Art Nouveau style, with a natural theme and flowing leaves and vines, and the use of MOP. The clock face is highly Art Nouveau, with scrolls, leaves and shells. The mother of pearl or abalone is very firey!!! Lots of blues, greens and deep pinks!
The base measures 8 3/8" wide x 3 3/4" deep; the clock stands 13 3/4" tall.
The inlay all looks to be in great condition, with only a few tiny chips and the gold paint looks real good. The thick black paint however does have wear and chips; we show most all of this wear in the numerous pictures.
Some of screws that hold the wooden back and bottom to the case are missing and some of the remaining ones are loose. It has a pendulum but no key, so I do not know if it runs.
Overall, this is a great looking clock that will look even better with a little case cleaning. Don't miss out!
