What could be more darling for historical reenactment than this?
An
Authentic Antique Knit Quilt Pattern for you to recreate! Pretty for you,
pretty for gifts and pretty for posterity! (Original is not for sale)
An excerpt:
"The
squares can be made all of the same color, or of two different shades, or,
again, of two contrasting tints -- such as blue and green, buff and blue, or
green and red. The stripes dividing the squares are black and white. Coarse
fleecy wool and large wooden pins should be used."
I would
think one could readily use baby yarn and small needles to make an infant's or
child's quilt or bedspread. That is what is so lovely about knitting, one can
modify a pattern easily with great results!
This
item is a great resource for those who are Civil War and
Victorian historical reenactment enthusiasts, stage and theatre costumers,
students of historical clothing, fiber and textile arts,
etc!
The
ladies of earlier times put their hands to such marvelous work and now you can
too! This is a beautiful item and sure to delight you and yours! These
instructions are very clear and easy to follow and yet the experience needle
worker will be capable of altering as per individual needs and artistic whim.
The
antique and vintage yarns, threads, ribbons, hooks, needles, etc., can
be found on eBay quite readily. You just have to hunt a little bit! :) Or, of
course, you can utilize contemporary tools and materials found at a nearby
fabric, craft or hobby store
