This auction is for an extremely rare antique Chinese Scroll / Book. 10 pages depicting 10 Chinese Empresses portrait engravings of the Qing Dynasty. Left most panel is possibly an early photograph of Empress Dowager Cixi (1835-1908). Empress Dowager Cixi ruled over China for about a 1/2 century. She had a limitless greed for power, family and subjects. She had a sharp political sense and decisive practices. But, under the Qing Dynasty grew more and more corrupt and lost its power. Horizontal scroll folds out to 61 inches wide. Each portrait panel measures 8 1/2 inches x 6 inches. Dated Late 1800's.
