Antique 1872 Bradley or Laundry or Salesman's Display S

This is an Antique 1872 Bradley or Laundry or Salesman's Display Stove which came out of a Philadelphia estate and it is in good looking and in good heating condition. Molded into the casting at the base is ''Cupid No 8, A. Bradley Co., Pittsburgh, Pa.'' and at the top is ''Pat'd 1872.'' We understand that smaller stoves like this were used to heat the heavy pressing irons which were placed on the top of the stove in the laundry so that the clothes could be ironed. On the other hand most of the laundry stoves we've seen on the web and elsewhre are particularly simple in design whereas this one can be readily described as decorative and ornate . We've learned that the Bradley Company of Pittsburgh made large attractive parlor stoves and it has been suggested that this may be a salesman's display model. In either case this stove is free of any cracks or chips and is in remarkably good condition given that it has been around for over 130 years. It has a washer and bolt added to the left decorative side door and and the nut which unloosens the air vents at the base is frozen although functionally the lower two front doors can be opened to allow air into the bottom of the stove which serves the same venting purpose. The interior grates which hold the coal or wood are in superb looking and functioning condition as is the rest of the stove. It comes with two early authentic stove top lid handles. This magnificent looking early Bradley stove is both stunning and virtually one-of-a-kind whether you want a historically decorative alternative source of heat this winter with the drastic increases in fuel oil prices in the horizon or you just want a majestic looking and functioning coal or wood stove. It measures 17''x20''x22'' and weighs 70 pounds.
