This is a VERY RARE, EARLY AND HARD TO FIND SIZE Redware cup. KILLER in every respect. It is very early. I'd put it at 1690 to 1740, based on the style. Note the pages around 243 for similar styles and age dating of the great book EARLY AMERICAN ANTIQUE COUNTRY FURNISHINGS by George C. Neumann. Also note what may be the best done book on pottery style items: IF THESE POTS COULD TALK by Noel Hume. The style of this cup is very early. Very bulbus in the middle and the higher base. It is a very seldom seen size, small at approx. 3 3/8th inch tall. The base is 2 inches and the mouth is 2 3/8th inch. The rim chips are well displayed in the photos and are great for such an old item. They are very old. There is no other chips or cracks. It has never been repaired, PURE AS IT GETS. It is a jewel. Note the very old museum or collection numbers, in black, on the base, that have almost worn off. This may be a museum deacquision piece. It comes from one of the most respected dealers of 17th and 18th century items, of which I have had the opportunity to deal with for 15 years. This is a really nice and hard to find piece. It comes from my personal collection of Redware, I've had it for 10 years. No reserve. Shipping INCLUDES delivery confirmation and insurance for loss or damage. Good luck. |
