Lovely, antique door salvaged from an old home in Northeastern
Ohio. The door has a solid oak core, covered with oak veneers. Please note
that "veneer" does not mean inferior quality. Unlike the paper thin veneers
used in the construction of modern furniture, mostly to disguise the
inferior materials underneath; these veneers are 1/16" thick, and add
strength to the door and protect it from warping. Unfortunately, the door
is painted on both sides, concealing the handsome oak grain, however, we
could strip the doors--see "Additional Services" below.
Standard French doors have 15 lites, but this door has an unusual
10-lite arrangement.
Hardware:
The door is not equipped with hardware. However, we have a good
selection of period hardware in our eBay store.
* If you would like the hardware holes patched with a solid
block of oak--see
"Additional Services" below.
Condition: The door is very heavy, strong, sturdy,
and in great shape with only cosmetic blemishes: surface scrapes and scratches, nail
holes from curtain hardware. It also has a heavily chipped lower mullion.
Swing: Once installed, the door would swing inwardly towards
the left. However, we
could make it swing towards the right--see
"Additional Services" below.
Dimensions:
Door:
35 3/4" W x 79 1/4" H x 1
3/4" D
Glass:
13" W x 12 1/2" H
Additional Services:
1.
Framing: We could make a pine frame for $110
(oak frame for $215).
With the frame built, all you would have to do is finish the frame with the
paint or stain of your choice, and then connect the 3 parts of the frame and
attach the door to the frame. Framing requires precise measuring and
cutting; with this step out of the way, installation would be much easier
and quicker.
2.
Stripping: We could completely remove the
paint allowing you to refinish for $200. If you plan to paint
the
door, we could scuff-sand one door making it smooth, and paint ready for
$60.
3. Height Change: We could cut the door
for $30, and we could also add to
it, to make it taller for $65. Please note that if we add to the door, the
addition would be very noticeable if stained, and is only recommended if you
are going to paint the door or stain it a dark color.
4. Width Change: We could cut the door
to make it narrower for $35/cut, and we could also add to it, to make
it
wider for $65/addition. Please note that if we
add to the door, the addition would be very noticeable if stained, and is
only recommended if you are going to paint the door.
5. Swing Change: We could reverse the swing direction of
the door for $30.
6. Mullion Repair: We could replace the chipped portion of
the mullion, using antique oak for $40.
7. Hardware Hole Patch: We could the replace the portion
with the hardware holes with a solid block of oak for $65.
