 This monumental French faience vase from the nineteenth century measures 37.5" (95.2 cm) tall and is signed " J. Comtet ". It has a baluster form and features lappet scrollwork at the rim and fleur-de-lis around the neck, and beautiful enamel painted male and female tavern figures in the renaissance style. It has a pale green ground decorated with scrolling foliage, and is painted with a bar maid, musician, dancing patron, and pair of lovers. The shoulder features a band of lions and the lower section above the foot features a band of dragons and serpents. This item is being sold on behalf of a client in Manhattan ( New York City ).
