This is a very rare original vintage solid Copper and Brass fire extinguisher. It has been lovingly restored and polished to a high luster and clear coated. It holds 1 gallon of Carbon Tetrachloride in one reservoir and compressed air in the other. Carbon Tetrachloride has been banned for consumer use due to the damage it causes to the environment. In addition, during World War 1, the Navy determined that carbon tetrachloride forms phosgene gas when exposed to high temperatures. That is not something you would want to use in firefighting equipment. As a result, carbon tetrachloride has not been used in extinguishers since the late '20s,
THIS EXTINGUISHER IS EMPTY AND HAS BEEN CLEANED OF ALL CHEMICALS
Dimensions are 23" tall by 16" wide by 5" deep. Weight approx 30 pounds
There is nearly $100 worth of copper in it at scrap value
Extreme care has been taken during the polishing and refinishing to insure that some of the markings have been left to preserve its character. It makes a wonderful conversation piece and will look beautiful in the flickering firelight when placed near the fireplace in your living room or in the display cabinet at your firehouse.
