Very fine, antique American sterling silver bon-bon dish/basket, made by the Howard Sterling Company, Providence, Rhode Island, circa 1878.
The top of the bon-bon dish has four raised flanges that are reticulated, around the edge is a scrolling foliate design, the dish is of deep form and is also reticulated with quatrefoils. The dish stands of four paw feet below a 'fleurs de lys' design, condition is mint, no damage or dings, just like the day it was made some 130 years ago! Dimensions; 8.5" wide x 7" deep x 4" tall, weighs about 8.5 troy ounces, fully marked below. Howard and Company were only in business for 24 years (until 1902) they produced high quality Sterling pieces at their workshops in Providence R.I., a fine piece of antique sterling in great condition.
