I'll say one thing about people who cared for and saved antique dolls: They ususally dressed them warm. This Bonnie Babe was caped and capped and layered like you wouldn't believe. She even had on socks under her knitted booties.
Length = 22"
I spent the morning yesterday snooping around in an estate down the road from here a ways. I wanted to see what I'd bought, so I even went through one of the out buildings. (Found some nice old iron stuff and some great tools.) Then I went back in the house, and that's where this doll had been living for many years. She was in an old doll bed, which I'll list on eBay a little later - just as soon as I recover.
Now that's cute! She has some scratches most noted on her cheeks, but there is nothing disastrous by any means.
Sleep eyes, of course - and two little teeth on the bottom in her open mouth. NO CRACKS.
When I removed her knit bonnet, I noticed her head seemed to be . . . well . . let's say "large," so I just had to measure the circumference. (Don't do that to a real baby when the mother is around. They don't take it well.) Anyhow. . . The circumference of her head is 15".
Ahhh yes. That's exactly the marking I was hoping to find:

Here at 341, I have two "Prime Directives:"
First: I never, under any circumstances, use a reserve, and everything starts at $9, sometimes even less.
Second: I don't clean, repair, or otherwise monkey around with anything. I push enough dust aside to note any flaws, but if I discovered it in some dusty attic, you can look forward to a little dust on it when it gets to your house. If it has a flaw or a wart, I'll tell you about it. So rest easy and have some fun. Why not place a little tiny bid right now so's you don't forget about it later.
I wouldn't be surprised to learn that at least some of the clothing is original, but I simply don't know what to look for. There is a stain here and there, but the pieces are basically in nice shape. (Naturally, it's estate stuff, so laudering and a gentle bath will be required.)
Socks! Those just HAVE to be original.
Finally! We're down to the bare essentials.
Both arms and both legs have surface loss, but there are no missing or broken toes or fingers.
From what I've been able to find and read about Bonnie Babe dolls, that's pretty much what one normally finds. (If, that is, you're lucky enough to find one at all.)
Amazingly, the cloth body has remained in very nice condition.
You can see the outline of some sort of talk-box on her back. I guess at one time she said "Mama" or "Polly want a cracker" or something like that.
Shhhhhhhhhhhh . . . I finally got her to sleep, so my work here is done.
GOOD LUCK
