Offered is a stunning antique black lace mantilla.
The body of this beautiful piece is adorned with handmade tamboured embroidery & black glass bead work. The edge is trimmed with lace with more hand done bead work.
Condition: There are some holes ranging as shown in the photosthey range in size from 1" to 1/4" hole. I believe these could easily be repaired. Certainly wearable as it is.There are no large tears or rips. A very wearable shawl.
The hand done bead work was sewn on with a brown thread.
Measurement: The longest part of triangle that goes around shoulders is 109",9" 1". From the back of the neck to the point of the triangle is 54 inches, 4" 6".
From what I read in my research this is typical late 19th centruy machine made netting all hand tamboured embroidery and beading work.
The mantilla itself weighs 12 ounces. It will be shipped in a small box.
