Antique C1830-40 Handwoven Indigo/Red Woven Coverlet

This is a wonderful center seamed natural dyed and handwoven wool indigo and madder red check blanket or coverlet. The colors are simply wonderful including the madder red, medium indigo blue, dark indigo blue and white. The weaving pattern is called goose-eye twill- a pattern that was popular in New England and New York State. This is a nice heavy coverlet guaranteed to keep anyone toasty warm. Or fold it for display. The natural dyed colors are extremely rich. The condition is very good with two holes the size of a quarter and 10-12 the size of a pea, with other small yarn breaks (a condition very good for these coverlets). No odor and the coverlet has not been reworked or shortened. It is in its original condition. It is better than described though. There are also a couple of old woven/darned repairs. The top end has a narrow rolled hem and has self fringe to the bottom. It measures a nice large 72” wide x 91 1/2” long, and is a wonderful coverlet.
