A 5" tall small antique pitcher that shows a great picture of ROYAL GORGE and the newly constructed HIGHEST BRIDGE IN THE WORLD, near CANON CITY, COLORADO.

Pitcher reads: "Royal Gorge, Colorado. Spanned by / the Highest Bridge in the World."

Maker's Mark on base: "PAINTED AND IMPORTED FOR / LORIN FORGY / CANON CITY, COLO. / HANDPAINTED / THE JONROTH STUDIOS / MADE IN GERMANY / 2554/1".

Condition: Sparkling clean, near mint condition. No cracks, chips, dings, damage, discoloring, etc, just like new!

Age: An antique plate, ca. early 1900's.

There's amazing detail in the picture on this pitcher--The whole span of river to bridge is portrayed, with a train coming up the tracks alongside the river. This piece is just like new; the glaze on this porcelain china pitcher is a beautiful creamy opalescent green. Lorin Forgy was probably an early-day Canon City merchant, an early Polk Directory or local historian could give information on this for sure and give dates when the business started. This pitcher was probably given out as a promotional piece for a grand opening or another special occasion. On the base it mentions "Made in Germany" this is one of the earmarks that antique dealers look for that authenticates souvenir china as being truly antique. Not only a beautiful antique souvenir piece, but also a historically valuable item as well; quite probably a one-of-a-kind item, check it out!
