This Antique Pottery Green GINGER JAR is of the type sometimes found around old railroad camps in British Columbia. As many are aware, the Chinese laborers were prevalent during the building of both the first Canadian and American railroads. This type of jar did not come with a lid, but rather had its original contents sealed in with wax, which was removed upon use. Mostly glazed, with some rough surfaces. All of the 6 panels displays a different design, with no repeats. 4-3/4" tall. We believe this to be antique, although it is very difficult to verify, so we remain uncertain.

Condition: Excellent pre-owned antique condition. Some crazing to the glaze. A few small chips along the lower underside rim. which do not show when the jar is upright.
Age: If antique, circa 1860s.
We welcome questions.
FAST SHIPPING.
A word about packing and shipping: We have allowed for box size that will provide adequate protection, as well as for sufficient packing materials. We use both bubble wrap, which we tape into place, as well as peanuts for cushioning. USPS raised rates A LOT in May, especially for packages going from one end of the country to the other. We are located in Wilmington, Delaware, which is almost as east as you can get, so you may see a higher shipping cost if you live in California. We usually offer 3 shipping choices, because the rate that is most economical for you now depends on a complex combination of distance plus package weight AND dimensions. If the real cost is more than the estimated cost, we do refund the difference. Please check our feedback, and see what people say about our packing.
