Antique
Carlin of New York
Harmonium
Description:
This antique harmonium comes to us from an estate sale. The front is clearly marked:
Carlin of New York
We are not certain of it's age of origin, but guess it is early 20th century. If any ebayers have additional information, we would welcome an e-mail.
Dimensions:
Measures Approx. 20" x 18" x 11"
This is a local pick-up only auction. We are located just outside Utica, N.Y., thruway exit 30 or 31.
(Item is not on premises)
Condition:
This is an old instrument that needs a little love. Some of the black keys stick, and there is some evident staining on the left side of the keyboard. We also found a moisture stain to the wood grain on the left edge.
(please refer to our photos for details).
As we are not experts in antique musical instruments or their restoration, this item is sold as is.
Other:
The harmonium is a free-reed organ of French origin, first patented in 1842 and becoming very popular after the Civil War. These instruments were often called traveling suitcase organs, chaplains' organs, missionary organs, or even in some cases field organs as they were used by chaplains on the field during World War I.
A Unique Antique Instrument for your bidding consideration!
