Antique Cast Iron & Brass 600# Beam Scale for Cauldron
This is a wonderful old scale that had come out of an estate sale. They had this mounted on a very solid wall beam and they had a large antique cast iron Cauldron hanging from it for display. I did not get the Calderon. Whatever you decide to do with it, I know that it will attract attention.
Very massive and it measures about 30-1/2" long. It has a heavy mounting hole on the one end for mounting to the wall and there is also another long rod with a turnbuckle on it and it mounts at about a 45 degree angel above the scale for a very solid mount. The mounting holes are set so that it looks like it may even be able to pivot from side to side. It is made of painted cast iron with great detailing and then the other parts are brass. There are no other parts that are not shown. Set it up just the way that it is or paint it and polish the brass. Have not been able to find a name and it says 600 pounds capacity, and then has 1340 stamped into the brass. We have been collecting for about 40 years and this is the only one that I have ever seen like this so have fun.
It is sold as found and as shown and as is so please ask before you bid.

I AM NOT AN EXPERT ON ALL OF THIS COOL OLD STUFF!!!!!!! I try to take good pictures and do the best that I can to describe my items with my limited knowledge. I have found and sold items from the 15th century up through the high tech items of today and with billions of items out there I have to admit that I am not an expert on any of them. I simply go out and find it and pass it along to the folks that collect it. I would love to have a book on each of the items that I have sold over the years but if I did, my library would now contain many thousands of volumes and I could not read them if I lived twenty lifetimes. I simply try to list items so that the right people can find them and I leave the rest up to them. Part of the fun of passing on some of the really odd items is that over the years I have had a number of buyers get back in touch with me and let me know that my items were being featured in their books and a few of them have been the only items know to exist. Nobody in that field had ever seen my item before and my item was not to be found in any book until I sold it to the author. ------ If you see a very nice item in my listing and do not see any words like perfect or mint condition, please understand that it has nothing to do with the quality of the item that is listed. Many items qualify for the use of those terms but, we have found that there are a few buyers who believe that there has never been an item made that will qualify for their definition of perfect. Read my feedback you will simply find a lot of buyers who say that the item is nicer than expected. You be the judge.
