Alright I'm not sure how to explain this great antique but I'll give it a shot. First of all, this bottle is UNOPENED. Yes it has the original wax seal on the top of the cork stopper and there are some thin strings that are attatched under the wax and the neck of the bottle. I've done a fair bit of research on this item and could not find a single thing on the Internet. So I went to a local Chinese grocery store and asked the old woman who runs it if she could tell me anything about it. This is what she said about the items.
The bottle
- She has no idea what the date is but she said it must be quite old as she is 56 and has never seen a bottle like that before and she hasn't seen a bottle with a cork in the top of the neck either. - The medicine itself she said is "like an energy drink for when you feel sick and helps you get vitality back" something along those lines she said. It didn't really explain very well what it is on there. - Recommended dosage was 3 table spoons for an adult and to drink with tea or a warm drink if you wished to do so. Not for children under the age of 2.
The magazine booklet
- Basically this is a magazine outlining and showing what other medicines this company sells if you wished to purchase any others.
The box and small certificate are kind of obvious for their role in the item. Certificate is just of authenticity and the box, well that holds the bottle and it says the directions on it. She could not find any ingredients on the bottle either.
There is sediment built up along the bottom of the bottle and it looks like it's calcified or something because it doesn't move along with the liquid. Which indicates that it has been sitting for quite some time now. If you do wish to know more hopefully I can give you some answers so just contact me if you have any questions at all!
