Several glass companies produced the inserts for pickle castors and supplied them to the silver or silver-plate companies who produced the castors. One of them was O’Hara Glass Company of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

The total height is 11”. Each of the two glass inserts is 4 ½” tall.

But here’s the thing, y’see. Pieces in the EAPG pattern, “Hand,” would normally have had a glass lid – except when made for a castor producing company. The lids for “Hand” had a hand holding a bar as a finial. So basically, I’ve stepped off into the deep end of the EAPG pool and need someone to rescue me.

There are some small chips around the tops and bottoms, but not nearly as many as you’d expect for something made in the 1880s. None of them are glaring, nor do they jump out at you. You’ll be very pleased.

Here at 341, I have two "Prime Directives:"
First: I never, under any circumstances, use a reserve, and everything starts at $9, sometimes even less. And, I never end auctions early or use BIN.
Second: I don't clean, repair, or otherwise monkey around with anything. I push enough dust aside to note any flaws, but if I discovered it in some dusty attic, you can look forward to a little dust on it when it gets to your house. If it has a flaw or a wart, I'll tell you about it.
So rest easy and have some fun. Why not place a little tiny bid right now so's you don't forget about it later.

Remember: All the things I’m selling from now ‘til Christmas are coming out of one of three estates or out of my own personal collection. So expect dust and cobwebs.

See the running deer? Or stag? There’s more to it than that.

The stag is at a full sprint, and he’s looking back over his shoulder. Guess why.

He’s has a hound hot on his heels. He’s the subject of a “stag hunt,” which is why they call it a “stag hunt.”

The lids fit perfectly, and the inserts fit perfectly into the frame. I can’t find a marking except for “42” on the castor frame. I’d guess it’s by Meriden, but that is entirely a wild guess, so shut me up!

You are really going to love this set, especially if you intend to have it replated. Then it’ll be a family heirloom.

Remind me to put color film back in my camera, will ya?

GOOD LUCK
