Another awesome antique sports collectible from HAMMER SPORTS RELICS!

Wow, look at the this amazing antique sports relic! It is a mid 1920's Spalding model BV valve type melon football! Checkout the beautiful 100% original patina on this beast! The leather is very thick and of the highest quality! Check out the shine on this gridiron pigskin! It has that antique leather smell we all know and love! These photos were taken without a flash. What you see is what you get! This animal has been through many a tough gridiron battles for sure. This is what is known as a Valve Type football. It was the first type of football to use an outside valve for inflation. The valve resembles the same type you see on todays automobile tires. They were first introduced in 1923 and faded out around 1932. We included (for reference only) a scan from a 1928 Spalding catalog that shows the model BV football. The Spalding makers logo has worn off and there are no other visible markings. You can also tell it is a Spalding by their trademark wavy style stitching pattern. When we acquired this beast the bladder was dry rot. We replaced it with a brand new Wilson bladder that will hold solid pressure for a long time. It measures a whopping 22" round X 11.5" long. The tips are very solid (see close ups)! We have the original valve with protective cap (see last photo) and will include it with the ball. The antique looking leather laces are not the originals but were hand made here in our studio. The photos do not even come close to doing this ball the justice it deserves! If you have been waiting for a sweet Spalding valve type melon football to hit Ebay, your wait is over!
