Antique Edwin Beckwith Jewelry Saw/Drill

Despite research efforts, we do not know very much about this tool. It comes to us from our favorite local antique expert who described it as a jewelry saw, although it looks more like a drill to us. It is made of cast iron, with brass components, and a diamond bit. Teethed crank wheel moves freely. The arm is stamped: Edwin Beckwith, N.Y.

Measures Approx. 6" high on a 3" base
Condition:
It has a few minor cosmetic issues, surface/finish blemishes. No major flaws or structural damage.
