All of my antiques are hand selected from premier European shippers. I do not purchase in bulk, but prefer to individually purchase items, with each piece selected for its unique characteristics and quality.
Condition:
The screen is in very good condition for its age, sturdy and strong, with less than normal signs of age and use, scratches, dings, and other imperfections. Note there is a small crack in the glass in the upper left corner, not easily distinguished with all the lovely colour in the needlework. The needlework colour is vivid and strong; the note with the identification of the artwork was attached to the back by the estate in northern London!!!!I believe the post joint(s) have also been reglued over the years, probably to maintain stability, and very professionally done…disclosure note only and definitely age appropriate. As with all the very tall firescreens from the Victorian period, it has the slightest lean if you closely examine it from all angles. Again, I consider this age appropriate and consider this firescreen to be much better than normal condition and far superb to most of its brethren!!
I always provide multiple photos that should be considered as part of the description and I encourage you to email me with any questions you might have prior to bidding. Please keep in mind antique furniture should be purchased for its uniqueness, higher quality material and craftsmanship and antique patina, charm and character….NOT for like-new condition!!!
