English Oak Barley Twist Umbrella Stick Stand
Direct from England, this listing is for a wonderful antique
English oak umbrella or “stick” stand, so called for their use as a place
for visitor’s walking canes (or “sticks) as well as umbrellas!!
~~The stand has a beautiful dark, rich
finish, wonderful wood grains, solid sturdy construction, a lovely aged
patina…….and it is in VERY good condition!!~~
~~Elegant barley twist legs with ball finials
and graceful curved sides...note the lengthy turned feet that add to it's proud
profile~~
~Center drawer, originally called a “glove box”, which sets it
apart from the more commonly found stands, and makes it wonderful for use as a
display shelf.….and the extra storage is always convenient~~
~~Original brass drawer pull is large and
beautiful, with a bit of a Celtic or art-nouveau design~~
Also, MOST unusual and hard-to-find, this particular stand has a
lower center shelf that provides additional display area. I see a fair
number of these stands …..but there are very few that make their way here from
England in the fabulous condition of this stand!!
This beautiful stand is a LARGE size and a wonderful accent
piece that is sure to compliment just about any decor, from traditional to
Victorian, Gothic to Colonial to cottage!!
