wall shelf.
·Large size, with two large copper/brass relief center panels
with traditional English Old World “pub scenes”;
·Beautiful oak finish;
·SIX character hooks along the beveled, scalloped lower edge;
·Top shelf has a long plate or display groove.
·This shelf has part of the original maker’s
label on the back in FOUR LANGUAGES as follows:
·“Copyright reserved” (English);
·Reproduction Interdite (French);
·“Namaak Verboden” (Dutch);
·Se Prohibe La Reproduccion (Spanish).

A BIT OF
HISTORY~~In France, England, Belgium and across Europe, these shelves were
originally used as a “kitchen shelf” with copper pots and pans being hung from
the hooks. In today’s home or office, decorators are using these
statement pieces in ANY room, with collectibles or home décor on the top shelf,
perhaps towel storage in a guest bathroom, as a foyer or hall piece with coats
and canes hung on the hooks….ENDLESS POSSIBILITIES!!

Condition:
The shelf is in good condition for
its age, sturdy and strong with normal signs of age and use, dings, scratches
and other imperfections.Note there are
some ‘flecks’ or spotting on the top shelf, age related and possibly it’s just
little splats from a wall nearby being painted sometime in its past.
I always provide multiple photos that should
be considered as part of the description and I encourage you to email me with
any questions you might have prior to bidding. Please keep in mind
antique furniture should be purchased for its uniqueness, higher quality
material and craftsmanship and antique patina, charm and character….NOT for
like-new condition!!!
