listing is for a stunning, carving antique coal box or “coal hod” as commonly
called in England. The box is thick, solid oak and beautifully carved
on four sides, including the slant top. It has all original
hardware AND the originalmetal liner, which is very rare, as
the liners typically, wore out over the years and were discarded. ALSO
the two original brass handle “hooks” to remove the metal coal box
for cleaning are included ~~ A VERY RARE FIND!!!
The carved box has its
original finish, dark with age appropriate wear that adds to the fabulous
patina of this exceptional antique piece!

CONDITION:
The box is
in good condition, structurally sound and visually appealing
with normal signs of age and use, scratches, dings, and other
imperfections.
As mentioned, the
original finish has age appropriate wear; the metal liner has some rust but the
bottom is solid and much, much better than typical for its age. I always
provide multiple photos and written information, and I encourage you to email
me with any questions you might have prior to bidding. Please keep in mind
antique furniture should be purchased for its uniqueness, higher quality
material and craftsmanship and antique patina, charm and character.
