Antique English VICTORIAN Mahogany Beaded Foot Stool

c1880~SOLID MAHOGANY~EXQUISITE GLASS BEADED Needlework

 

Just arrived from England and another special treasure….a stunning glass beaded needlework mahogany footstool.

 

 These exquisite beauties are from a London estate…this listing is for the one featured in the single photos with its ‘mate’ being sold separately!

 

The base is solid mahogany with four large bun feet and an elegantly reverse wedge shaped base.  The mahogany has that rich finish and glow that only time can provide and the patina of the wood is perfectly complimented by the vibrant colours of the glass beads and needlework.

 

The needlepoint background fabric is a gorgeous shade with coordinating green side trim and brass finishing tacks.  The beaded flowers and floral design encompass a broad spectrum of colored glass beads and the overall condition of the beadwork is very good for its age, with the majority of the beadwork intact.  PLEASE UNDERSTAND this is antique handwork and there are going to be some missing beads...many photos provided to use as a reference!!

 

 These beaded Victorian stools are very hard to find in the London markets right now because they are HOT HOT HOT in popularity.   Decorators are using them as accents pieces, displaying the beadwork as shown in the photos, on a cabinet or table top, or on a shelf or sofa table.  The elegant lines of the mahogany base and the vivid colours in the beaded work really make a ‘pop’ of colour and grace for any room!

The footstool is in good condition for its age, sturdy and strong, with normal signs of age and use, dings, scratches and other imperfection.    I always provide multiple photos that should be considered as part of the description and I encourage you to email me with any questions you might have prior to bidding.   Please keep in mind antique furniture should be purchased for its uniqueness, higher quality material and craftsmanship and antique patina, charm and character….NOT for like-new condition!!!
