Antique English Victorian Beadwork Tea Cozy Cosy Textile

 

Direct from England, a beautiful, EXTRA LARGE Victorian beaded tea cosy.

After recently discovering one of these beauties in a shipment from north London, I have been on a quest to acquire some for my customers!

This is the first one that I’ve found, and it is simply gorgeous!

 

Easily it can be used as intended, but it also could be taken apart to create two exquisite Victorian beaded panels…..sooo hard to decide which is best!!

The pattern is divine and the beadwork is fabulous, with several styles of beads and large, raised designs…the extra thick padding and the heavy beads make the cozy much heavier than you would expect…

 

Measurements:

OVERSIZED, 11”H x 15” across the bottom;

Appx. 4” total thickness.

 

All of my antiques are hand selected from premier European shippers.  I do not purchase in bulk, but prefer to individually purchase items, with each piece selected for its unique characteristics and quality.

 

NOTE:  New container in from my favorite shipper this week that has OVER 40 various carved items---including numerous carved tables, carved stools, carved wall cabinets, carved corner cabinets, FOUR smoke cabinets, THREE granddaughter clocks, beveled mirrors….listings will be added throughout the weekend!!

 

Condition:

The cozy is what I consider good condition, with expected signs of age and use.  The beadwork appears to be mostly intact with some bead loss, as to be expected ~ note some trim loss and one side has several patches on the background fabric.  There are also some handmade patches on the interior lining……..I can imagine the tender care taken to patch the cozy…….especially with it probably taking a Victorian lady many many months to complete the handwork!!

 

I encourage you to email me with any questions you might have prior to bidding…..ESPECIALLY BECAUSE TEXTILES ARE NOT MY AREA OF EXPERTISE!!  Please keep in mind any antique should be purchased for its uniqueness, higher quality material and craftsmanship and antique patina, charm and character.
