DESCRIPTION

Up for bids: an antique railroad Estate stove, which would have been found in the caboose or depot. It measures 33" tall and 24" wide, and 24" deep. These stoves had double latches and locked fittings on the doors and top plates, so they could be secured while traveling the rails. The caboose stoves did not have legs, but were bolted to the floor of the caboose. This stove appears to maybe have been a caboose stove, as it has aluminum legs, which could have been made later, after its use on a caboose. Wood or coal, patented 1912. A really durable well manufactured stove, with two plates on top for cooking as well!
