Antique FRENCH MIRROR with Barbola SWAGS ROSES and RIBBONS! Gorgeous "Ghost"-like effect of rain streaks on the front! Wonderful sense of mystery and history in this lovely looking glass! The mirror is from a stately mansion here~I have owned it a long time myself.

The Gesso Barbola is very old~original label is intact on the back! Hirsch and Lehman was a 1920's framing shop here!

WHY IT’S SPECIAL: Wonderfully Designed FRENCH MIRROR FRAME in scrumptious tones of French Blue with a gold leaf liner and A-Mazing BARBOLA in original vibrant Teals, Golds, Greens ..applied tiny Roses of Gesso Barbola with French Trim on a graceful FRENCH BOUDOIR or HALL Wood MIRROR! This MIRROR was painted AND gold-leafed a long time ago and has BEAUTIFULLY mellowed with age... the patina of age is all original!

Rare and Exquisite Piece with Great Style and Vintage Charm~Beautifully Detailed! Can be used for gorgeous French, Romantic or other decor!

MARKINGS: Back has the original 1920's label: HIRSCH and LEHMAN~Artistic Picture Framing~Shreveport, La. 

CONDITION: Wonderful collection addition in good condition with the following age-related barbalo issues: 

The Basketweave BARBOLA design at the very top has some damage to the small pieces in the center, as the close up photos show.

Also this top gesso ornament or crown has been separated, but not broken off..(probably from picking the mirror up by the fragile barbalo.) The wire onto which this gorgeous barbola was made is visible in one tiny area. And on the side a small leaf area is missing.  Amazingly, this is lovely old mirror has survived the years in really good shape!!

 

MEASUREMENTS: app. 32 1/2" tall x app. 16 1/2" wide.
