Great detail on this plate, the picture depicts the ENTERPRISE KANSAS NORMAL COLLEGE. Enterprise remained a pretty small town and so no wonder THE FROELICH BROTHERS used a portrayal of the towns grand college building to advertise their MERCANTILE COMPANY. This plate was probably given away by the proprietor of the Mercantile Co. on the grand opening or for some other special event. An Enterprise historian and/or the Polk City Directories from the early 1900's would tell when this business got started and specifically date the plate in the process. Not many of these fragile old souvenirs survived the elements of time, this one is quite possibly a one-of-a-kind. Not only a beautiful antique advertising plate, but also a historically valuable piece as well, check it out!
