An antique 7 3/4" wide PORCELAIN CHINA advertising PLATE from ENTERPRISE, KANSAS, with a great OLD-TIME PICTURE of the ENTERPRISE KANSAS NORMAL COLLEGE.  Plate was given out as a promotional piece by THE FROEHLICH BROTHERS MERCANTILE.

  • Plate reads:  "COMPLIMENTS OF / THE FROELICH BROS. MERC. CO. / ENTERPRISE, KANS."

  • Mark on backside reads:  "SILESIA / 297"

  • Condition:   This plate is in completely excellent sparkling clean condition! No cracks, hairlines, or crazing.  A couple discolored marks on the backside.

  • Age   An antique plate ca. early 1900's.

  • Shipping: Buyer pays $9.01 S/H which includes domestic insurance ~ more if international ~ We ship every Wednesday. So if you pay with PayPal by Tuesday evening, we will ship your item Wednesday. Great detail on this plate, the picture depicts the ENTERPRISE KANSAS NORMAL COLLEGE.  Enterprise remained a pretty small town and so no wonder THE FROELICH BROTHERS used a portrayal of the towns grand college building to advertise their MERCANTILE COMPANY.   This plate was probably given away by the proprietor of the Mercantile Co. on the grand opening or for some other special event.  An Enterprise historian and/or the Polk City Directories from the early 1900's would tell when this business got started and specifically date the plate in the process.   Not many of these fragile old souvenirs survived the elements of time, this one is quite possibly a one-of-a-kind.  Not only a beautiful antique advertising plate, but also a historically valuable piece as well, check it out!
