Antique Seltzer Bottle

Wow! This auction is probably the coolest seltzer bottle, or bottle for that matter, that I've ever owned. The bottle is absolutely enormous measuring about 18" tall with the nozzle at the top, and it has a neat snowman, double bubble shape. The bottle is covered in a wire mesh, and on the inside I see a large glass tube in the top bubble and then a long slender tube that runs all the way to the bottom. The nozzle is marked Veritable Seltzogene D. Fevre Paris and also has a number 5 (maybe 5 liters) and then says D. Fevre Marque Deposee in a signature script. The piece is absolutely gorgeous and very well made – the bottom has a gound pontil. It weighs a ton and is seldom seen – especially in the United States. This would have sat on the back of a drug store counter and rarely lifted because of the weight. The bottle is in excellent DISPLAY quality, BUT the narrow part between the two bubbles is cracked and if the metal mesh was not there it would break apart. HOWEVER, the metal mesh is so perfectly tight that there is no movement and the crack is VERY hard to see. There is also a crack running down the bottom bubble that is also hard to see and very tight and comes from that center break but doesn't go all the way down to the base - it's about 3" long. Just a great looking bottle! The previous owner made it into a lamp and dripped the top little piece way up on the very top. It is not pictured, but I found it and will include that threaded piece. Just a great piece!
