Heavily Carved, Solid Dark Oak, Embossed leather!

Direct from France, this listing is for a stunning French writing desk, fabulous with ALL the features I search for in quality European antiques!!

·        Thick barley twist legs AND thick barley twist “H” stretchers….ALWAYS a sign of SUPERIOR QUALITY and CONSTRUCTION;

·        Carved Blocks at all the barley twist joints, French carved on all sides, another sign of superior construction;

·        Thick, SOLID OAK, OPEN HAND CARVED APRON on ALL THREE SIDES;

·        Leather skiver, burgundy with embossed gold trim;

·        SLANT TOP writing area with generous interior storage for letters, paperwork, or YOUR LAPTOP COMPUTER;

·        Carved beveled edge top and raised gallery back!!

MEASUREMENTS:

35”H x 33 ½” x 21 ½”;

Slant top, 33 ½” x 15 ½” appx.;

Interior, 5”H at back, 3”H in front, 29 ½” x 18”.

CONDITION:

This desk is a lovely piece, sturdy and strong, well built by craftsmen of the period.  It is in good condition for its age, with normal signs of age and use, dings, scratches and other imperfections.  The slant top has reinforcement “L” brackets on the interior corners and an old split that has been repaired years ago with noted quality method using blocks for stabilization.  I have included photos….this does not harm the structure or stability whatsoever!!!
