This auction today is amazing section of antique French quilted textile dating c1820-1840~
This is truly an extraordinary find~ this piece of quilted textile is a very early hand block printed piece of textile~ it is absolutely wonderful. It was originally used most likely as a pelmet on a 4 poster bed surround ~ It is 100% hand quilted with TWO layers of amazing homepun linen. The batting is cotton batting. This piece would have been an enormous quilt at one time~ it is all 100% hand stitched with the most beautiful khaki thread ~ this piece was all 100% designed and printed by hand in a very labour intensive process ~ it is simply wonderful!!! The colours include deep purple, lilac purple, mushroom, red and cream~*~ a textile that is one in a million~*~The backing I am certain is 18th century, most likely came from a much earlier quilt as there are 2 layers of the linen and one is hand stitched using a cream thread!! It is just wonderful~*~This textile would make an amazing pillow front~ or further lengths can be purchased for a pelmet etc. ( the full length of the uncut piece is nearly 8 feet long...the further lengths will be offered to the winning bidder should they wish to purchase)
The piece in the auction measures 82cm by 58cm ( 2.69 feet by 22.8 inches) however the uncut piece is longer, ~ ~*~ This textile is in amazing, unfaded condition.

This cotton is a medium weight fabric, suitable for cushions, patchwork, many other wonderful sewing projects. ~
~*~Shipping information~*~ Good news for my customers~*~ I ship worldwide and I offer a very economical and reliable service called Priority Mail offered by the United States Postal Service~ this works for both Domestic and International customers. I am able to send smaller items (most single pieces of fabric, most mangle cloths and smaller multiple purchases) within one envelope for $5.60 anywhere within the USA, $10 for Canada and Mexico, and $12 anywhere else in the world! The only requirement is that the textiles fit well within the envelope. (I will always do my very best to fit as many pieces in as possible! ~*~)
For items that will not fit into an envelope and for combined multiple purchases there is another Priority mail service that I offer called "flat rate box". I can ship anywhere within the USA for $9.95, Canada and Mexico $24 or anywhere else in the world for only $39! I will fit as many textiles as possible into these boxes and the dimensions are (in inches): 11 by 8.5 by 5.5 or 13.6 by 11.8 by 3.37. ( the volume is about 2 medium sacks~*~)
For purchases that do not fit into the flat rate envelope or box, I will quote per item and most times you will be able to use the shipping calculator so you can automatically see the charges for any destination in the world~ You can always trust that Loodylady will do her utmost to ensure that customers are getting the most economical and reliable service available.
