Antique French Restauration Sterling Silver Coffee Pot Antiques:Silver:Tea / Coffee / Chocolate Pots
(click picture for more images & measurements)
I do so love the old world charm of
early 1800's French Restauration era
tea and coffee pots, beautifully hand
crafted, heavy in the hand, and with such
tremendous visual appeal. This
particular beauty is certainly one of
the finest Restauration era pots I have
ever acquired - its domed lid
surmounted by a spectacular and
amazingly realistic chrysanthemum
finial, spout embellished with applied
floral and foliate motifs, and a
gorgeous chased shell, floral, and
foliate applied collar. It stands on an
elaborately detailed cast and chased
base, with scroll feet enhanced by
finely detailed floral decor. And, its
elegant upwardly sweeping ebony scroll
handle has richly detailed chased
acanthus mounts. To put it simply, this
coffee pot is absolutely gorgeous!
Crafted from the highest quality
silver, it weighs a substantial 768
grams, and is stamped with the French
Minerve 950 mark on body, base, and
lid. The base is stamped with the
maker's mark and signature for Parisian
master silversmith Charles BALAINE,
active 1829 - c.1840, rue du
Faubourg-du-Temple, Paris. Excellent
condition. A very beautiful addition to
a fine silver collection. Please click
