FRENCH ANTIQUE MAJOLICA ASPARAGUS PLATE SALINS 1880 The Salins les Bains manufacture was fouded in 1857 in the Jura in the east of France. Beautiful French Salins asparagus plate with a scalloped edge with a large basketweave broder in a butter colour. A bunch of 4 purple and white asparagus on a bed of artichokes leaves. A part of the plate has a hole reserved for the sauce. All the decor is on a deep turquoise background. There is a small green mark, mark of the painter on the back 9 3/4 inches across MINT CONDITION, NO CRACK, NO CHIP, NO DISCOLORATION Colors are intense and gorgeous. There is some natural crazing due to age especially below. Little glaze jump under the foot just as shown on the photo below You can see the same plate in the reference book of Maryse Bottero "Artichauts et Asperges en barbotine"
