The top is a new addition handmade to match the bottom.	The bottom originates from c1820 England.	Even the sides look great!

The top (2) drawers are actually a fall front. They reveal storage space and a leather writing surface.	There are some stress marks on the top surface.	The leather writing surface is edged in gold detail.

All of the drawer have hand-crafted dovetail joints.	There are some distress marks on this side and some minor distress marks throughout the piece.	The back is sturdy like the rest of the piece.

This beautiful Georgian mahogany secretaire bookcase was crafted in England. The bottom was crafted in 1820 and restored. The top is newly made. The pediment is 7" high and moulded. The bookcase has astragal glass fronts and alligator brackets. The bookcase has a lock and key with bone escutcheons. Each of the (2) shelves are movable. The bottom appears to have (5) drawers. However the top (2) drawers are in fact a fall front. The fall opens to reveal a cabinet with lock and key, (7) drawers and (8) pigeon holes. The writing surface is made of fine, green leather, bordered with gold tooling. The leather makes an excellent writing surface. This area sits atop (2) graduated drawers. The bottom drawer is a full 14.5" deep with the drawer above it measuring 6.5" deep. All of the hardware is solid-brass and the drawer pulls are made in the American Federal style. The drawers have hand-crafted dovetailed joints and all of the escutcheons are made of bone. This piece sits atop sturdy shaped bracket feet. There are distress marks on the top and side (pictured below) otherwise this piece is very good condition.
